Blockbuster Musical at Vero Beach Theatre Guild

Don't miss the blockbuster musical comedy, Sister Act, opening at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild on April 7, 2021. “Sister Act” is the feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film that has audiences jumping to their feet! Featuring original music by Tony and eight-time Oscar winner, Alan Menken (“Newsies", "Beauty and the Beast,” “Little Shop of Horrors"), this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.

"Sister Act" was a stunner at Riverside Theatre several years ago but the Guild has a solid track record for delivering a unique community theatre experience that often rivals professional theatre. In recent years, their success with big musicals has created a lot of buzz and this one promises the same. Director and choreographer, Beth Shestak also directed "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," two of the Guild's most successful musicals. Musical Director, Gregory Harris, most recently seen as the lead in "Forum," had literally stepped into the lead role for that performance at the last minute and had audiences doubled over in laughter and amazed with his sheer talent and sparkling charm. Brandon Sturiale is the Band Director and his work as Musical Director for "CATS" contributed to that being the first Guild show ever to sell out in the off-season.

Filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous choreography and a truly moving story, the proven talent behind this show nearly guarantees its success. The cast is full of amazing Vero Beach women of all ages, including some newcomers as well as seasoned Guild veterans.

The performances will run from April 7 through April 25, 2021.

Tickets are $35 with students 18 and under just $15.
