In partnership with volunteer organizations and individuals around the globe, the International Coastal Cleanup® (ICC) engages people to remove trash from the world’s beaches and waterways. Thanks to volunteers around the world, the ICC has become a beacon of hope, leading and inspiring action in support of our oceans. Since its beginning, more than 17 million volunteers have collected more than 348 million pounds of trash.
Locally, the Treasure Coast is home to many organizations that have faithfully heeded the call to action year after year to make our coastal waters cleaner and healthier. Many provide an opportunity for local residents to get together in the spirit of community by hosting cleanup events at area beaches. Participating in a cleanup event is a great way to meet like-minded people, get some exercise, enjoy the beach, and, most importantly, help make a difference!
On September 17, 2022, consider joining one of these local events. Most provide needed equipment such as gloves and collection containers, offer T-shirts, and even a few after-cleanup celebrations at local venues. Check out these two organizations hosting cleanup events on the Treasure Coast from Sebastian to Jensen and get involved!
