Save The Dates for Performing Arts

The lost season of 2020-2021 on our stages is finally coming to an end and our Treasure Coast Performing Arts community is getting ready to raise the curtains! Get out your calendars and read on.

The Vero Beach Theatre Guild heads into Season 64 beginning July 14 with the opening of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest directed by Michael D. Naffziger. The Broadway Tony Award winner will continue to run through July 25. We’re not sure if that was on purpose but it seems appropriate at this time. Up next, and just in time for Halloween and under the direction of Alex Martinez will be Bram Stoker’s classic thriller Dracula playing October 6 - 17 followed by another Tony Award winner, Sleuth. This clever whodunit, directed by Alex Kantor, runs November 10 - 21.

Across the bridge in Vero Beach, Riverside Theatre will open its 2022 season on January 4th with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel, followed in February by A Comedy of Tenors by Ken Ludwig. March brings the hit Broadway Musical On Your Feet with music and lyrics by Emilio Estefan & Gloria Estefan. Elton John’s Billy Elliot, The Musical is on stage for April and the Stark Stage season will close with Almost Heaven, Songs of John Denver.

Also at Riverside, Ballet Vero returns to its pursuit to bring the best of dance back with konverjdans. This unique troupe from New York City represents the pinnacle of contemporary ballet, artistic collaboration, and forward-thinking dance making. Performances will feature the company alongside Ballet Vero Beach’s resident professional dancers.

Sunrise Theatre will present Bruce In The USA Friday, July 23. Much more than just another tribute, this high-energy musical experience is a note-perfect and visually accurate recreation of a Bruce Springsteen & The E St. Band show. Then on Friday, August 27, the Sunrise stage tips its hat to Freddie with Great Britain’s most explosive rock ‘n’ roll tribute show, One Night of Queen. In case you can’t make it or you just can’t get enough of Queen, The Lyric Theatre in Stuart will also present the new, improved touring concert, Mercury, as its season opener on October 10.

The Barn Theatre in Stuart will present Legally Blonde, The Musical directed by Ben Earman opening July 15 through August 1, and then bring on The Full Monty, directed by Jim Doctor which runs September 16 through October 3.

The Atlantic Classical Orchestra will begin season subscription sales this July for their long-awaited and previously much-anticipated 2021 Masterworks season which will feature a stellar opening with Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The performances, beginning in January of 2022, will also include Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony. The ACO Masterworks performances take place each month, January through April, in Vero Beach at The Community Church, Lyric Theatre in Stuart, and The Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College.
