Waterlilies Bloom in June

McKee Botanical Garden will host its 16th Annual Waterlily Celebration on Saturday, June 19, 2021, from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.

McKee’s ponds and waterways are adorned with one of the state’s largest collection of waterlilies which features hundreds of fragrant and colorful tropical and hardy waterlilies. McKee’s waterlily collection features over 80 varieties with over 300 potted and 100 free-range plants including night-blooming and day-blooming varieties.

Each year, hundreds of horticulturalists and garden enthusiasts visit the Garden for a special opportunity to enjoy these wonders of nature. Visitors can observe hands-on repotting demonstrations by McKee’s plant experts and ask questions about the various species, variety of colors, growing periods, blooming frequencies and growing tips. In addition, the Garden will have plant vendors on site selling aquatic plants and bromeliads.

“We look forward to this event every year when things slow down and we have an opportunity to take time to appreciate one of nature’s most amazing gifts. Waterlilies have been a part of McKee since its onset in the 1930s. We hope that our members and guests will come relax, stroll the Garden and find solitude in the peacefulness that these magnificent blooms radiate,” said Christine Hobart, Executive Director.

The Garden will open early at 8:30 am to afford visitors an opportunity to witness some of the night-blooming varieties before they retreat.

Event Hours: 8:30 am – 2 :00 pm. (The Garden is open until 5 pm. Last admission sold at 4 pm. Children’s Garden closes at 4:30 pm).
